Abstract

En 1961, siete italianos, algunos vinculados al grupo Cantacronache, realizaban un viaje por España con la misión de recopilar canciones antifranquistas. El trabajo se enmarcaba en su línea de investigación sobre música popular, particularmente de la resistencia antifascista en Europa. Con este material se publicó un libro, Canti della nuova resistenza spagnola (1939-1961) (Einaudi). La reacción virulenta del franquismo contra el conocido como Libelo consiguió su secuestro en Turín y el apoyo de la prensa más conservadora, incluida la del Vaticano. El affaire del Canti tuvo repercusiones en ámbitos muy diversos (política, mundo editorial, judicial, periodístico o literario).

In 1961, seven Italians, some of them related to the group Cantacronache, made a trip throughout Spain on the mission to collect songs against Franco. The work was part of their research on popular music,particularly the anti-fascist resistance in Europe. This material was published in a book, Canti della nuova resistenza spagnola (1939-1961) (Einaudi). Due to the virulent reaction of franquism against what is known as «Libelo» got his seizure in Turin and the support of the more conservative press, including the Vatican. The affaire of Canti had an impact on different areas (political, publishing, legal, journalistic or literary).
