Moda sostenible y hábitos de consumo

Abstract

La industria de la moda se ha relacionado con el consumo desenfrenado, la contaminación medioambiental y la explotación laboral. Quizá esta faceta corresponde a la parte más visible de su producción, pero hace años que se están gestando alternativas más respetuosas con el entorno y las personas, dentro de un marco al que se le han atribuido nombres como “moda sostenible”. Hay quien considera que esta vertiente no es más que una tendencia pasajera, pero algunas grandes empresas del sector ya están reaccionando ante la opinión pública y los informes de organizaciones, elaborando planes a largo plazo para encaminar su marca hacia la sostenibilidad. Estos acercamientos podrían indicar la importancia de este nuevo enfoque. La hipótesis de la que se parte es que el consumo mayoritario se localiza en esas grandes marcas, mientras que esta opción sostenible es, por lo general, desconocida para el ciudadano de a pie. No obstante, a través de una metodología de encuesta, se pretende averiguar no sólo si esta suposición de la que se parte es cierta, sino también conocer la actitud del consumidor ajeno hacia este otro hábito de compra. Con los resultados será posible establecer un puente a la reflexión y sentar las bases para futuros encuentros o campañas de concienciación. Sin duda, el voto decisivo es del consumidor medio, pues es él quien con su compra puede elegir entre legitimar las vejaciones de los conglomerados productores o allanar el camino hacia un nuevo paradigma más solidario e igualitario.
