Conflictividad escolar y formación del profesorado

Abstract

The creation of a peaceful atmosphere of coexistence in schools, by promoting specific social abilities and conflict resolution, is an effective way to enforce education for peace in the day-to-day, affecting all of this to the actual quality of education. This paper explores the training needs of teachers of Primary and Secondary schools in private ownership and private concert of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia (Spain), in terms of social abilities, law and conflict resolution. To carry out the investigation, it has been used a mixed methodology, where they have developed two data collection instruments: both a quantitative and a qualitative one. The sample has been composed of 871 teachers from 73 schools. The results show, among other conclusions, that unlike other studies in state schools, the level of conflict in these schools is very low and variable, and is conditioned by socio-economic and cultural factors. Despite the absence of a trouble environment, most teachers have a negative assessment of the existing atmosphere in these schools, which might be due to the influence of the media in the educational community in general and in particular among teachers.
