This research emphasizes identifying two types of patterns of people: visitors and residents. An exploratory study was carried out to find out how students are perceived in the digital age, on two planes: personal and professional. An "ad hoc" instrument was elaborated and administered in the subject "Educational Technology" of the Pedagogy degree of the University of Seville. La presente investigación pone el acento en dos tipos de patrones de personas: visitantes y residentes. Se planteó un estudio exploratorio para conocer cómo se perciben los estudiantes en la era digital, en dos planos: personal y profesional. Se elaboró un instrumento “ad hoc” administrado en la asignatura “Tecnología Educativa” del grado de Pedagogía de la Universidad de Sevilla. Como resultados, a pesar de que la mayoría se ven como residentes, las percepciones discrepan de las evidencias obtenidas a partir de las representaciones gráficas realizadas.
