Trozo de traza: un dibujo inédito de Juan de Legarra ‘maestro albañil y alcalde alarife’ de la Sevilla del siglo XVII

Abstract

Los arquitectos estamos acostumbrados a la necesidad del dibujo como desencadenante de los procesos que desarrollan la arquitectura. Pero, ¿podemos asegurar que esto fue siempre así? A partir del estudio de la arquitectura de la ciudad de Sevilla en el siglo XVII y de un dibujo inédito encontrado de uno de los alarifes que trabajó en ella, Juan de Legarra; se pretende demostrar cómo en el contexto aún de escasa difusión de los tratados arquitectónicos, a partir de los cuales la representación adquiriría un definitivo papel básico para el aprendizaje y divulgación de la arquitectura, el dibujo siempre fue necesario. Los maestros como Legarra que desarrollaron la arquitectura en este contexto así lo entendieron e hicieron uso de él de manera innata; no sabemos de qué manera formó parte de su educación, pero sí que lo fue de su labor del día a día.
