Objetivos: El objetivo principal es realizar una revisión bibliográfica de la literatura para estudiar la actualización del abordaje de la ansiedad en el tratamiento odontológico infantil. Material y métodos: Se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica de la literatura disponible en bases de datos (Pubmed, Scopus, Cochrane Library, Google Scholar), guías de la American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry y la Biblioteca de la Universidad de Sevilla. Resultados y conclusiones: Tras la revisión de la literatura, se concluye que ante un paciente infantil con ansiedad hay que examinar los factores que influyen sobre el niño para que padezca ansiedad, así como su entorno sociocultural y familiar. Es sumamente importante que el odontólogo conozca la gran variedad de técnicas de manejo de conducta que se pueden emplear con el paciente pediátrico para reducir su ansiedad y aplicarlas para realizar un tratamiento de calidad.
Objectives: The main objective is to carry out a literature review to study the current update of the approach to anxiety in pediatric dental treatment. Material and methods: A literature review has been conducted using available databases such as Pubmed, Scopus, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar, as well as guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the University of Seville Library. Results and conclusions: After reviewing the literature, it is concluded that when dealing with a pediatric patient with anxiety, it is necessary to examine the factors that influence the child's anxiety, as well as their sociocultural and family environment. It is extremely important that the dentist is knowledgeable about the wide variety of behavior management techniques that can be used with pediatric patients to reduce their anxiety, and to apply them in order to provide quality treatment.
