Abstract

Metodología : Realizamos una búsqueda bibliográfica en la base de datos PubMed para "botulinum toxin" AND (bruxism or sialorrhea)", "botulinum toxin" AND "dislocation of TMJ" y "Abobotulinumtoxin A OR Incobotulinumtoxin A OR Onabotulinumtoxin A AND sialorrhea AND drooling".

Our aim is to evaluate the efficacy oftreatment with BT-A in these pathologies. Methodology: bibliographic research utilizing Pubmed's database for "botulinum toxin" AND (bruxism OR sialorrhea), "botulinum toxin" AND "dislocation of TMJ" and "Abobotulinumtoxin A OR Incobotulinumtoxin A OR Onabotulinumtoxin A AND sialorrhea AND drooling". The articles have been limited to those published in the last 5 years, both in English and Spanish, with studies in humans, and full text. 13 papers were included after systematic evaluation of the studies found. Conclusions: Both treatments for the pathologies treated are effective and safe for symptom relief. Addictional long-term studies are needed to increase the level of evidence in the treatment of BT-A in bruxism and silorrhea.
