Las técnicas con toxina botulínica tipo A (BT-A) representan la mejora de calidad de vida en pacientes con bruxismo y sialorrea. Nuestro objetivo es evaluar la eficacia del tratamiento con BT-A en estas patologías. Metodología : Realizamos una búsqueda bibliográfica en la base de datos PubMed para "botulinum toxin" AND (bruxism or sialorrhea)", "botulinum toxin" AND "dislocation of TMJ" y "Abobotulinumtoxin A OR Incobotulinumtoxin A OR Onabotulinumtoxin A AND sialorrhea AND drooling". Limitamos los artículos a los publicados en los últimos 5 años, en Inglés o Español, estudio en humanos y texto completo. 13 trabajos fueron incluidos tras una evaluación de los estudios encontrados. Conclusiones : Ambos tratamientos de las patologías tratadas son eficaces y seguras para el alivio de síntomas. Se necesitan estudios adicionales a largo plazo para incrementar el grado de evidencia en el tratamiento de BT-A en el bruxismo y sialorrea.
Botulinum toxin type A techniques represent an improvement in the quality of life in patients with bruxism and sialorrhea. Our aim is to evaluate the efficacy oftreatment with BT-A in these pathologies. Methodology: bibliographic research utilizing Pubmed's database for "botulinum toxin" AND (bruxism OR sialorrhea), "botulinum toxin" AND "dislocation of TMJ" and "Abobotulinumtoxin A OR Incobotulinumtoxin A OR Onabotulinumtoxin A AND sialorrhea AND drooling". The articles have been limited to those published in the last 5 years, both in English and Spanish, with studies in humans, and full text. 13 papers were included after systematic evaluation of the studies found. Conclusions: Both treatments for the pathologies treated are effective and safe for symptom relief. Addictional long-term studies are needed to increase the level of evidence in the treatment of BT-A in bruxism and silorrhea.
