Planeamiento urbano y selección patrimonial en la ciudad histórico-turística

Abstract

En el presente trabajo se hace un recorrido por los valores que se atribuyen a la ciudad antigua para justificar su protección, entre los que destacan el estético, histórico, identitario, de residencia de la memoria colectiva y de utilidad para mejorar la calidad de vida. Además, se presenta la evolución del concepto de ciudad histórica, desde su definición como marco de los monumentos hasta su reconocimiento como bien patrimonial por sí misma. Igualmente, se recogen consideraciones de la doctrina internacional sobre el uso de la ciudad histórica como destino turístico. El objetivo de la investigación es analizar los aspectos teóricos mencionados en casos concretos, para ello se han seleccionados ciudades de tres países: Reino Unido, España y México. La metodología aplicada combina tanto observación directa de ejemplos actuales y recientes como análisis de fuentes documentales que sustentan el discurso, tales como planes urbanísticos, normativa y expedientes de proyectos.
