At present there are various studies that demonstrate the loss of hard tissue that occurs in the alveolus when we extract a tooth. Dental extraction is a very frequent procedure due to different irreversible pathologies that occur in the natural dentition. The consequent bone loss leads to serious difficulties in rehabilitating the edentulous area, which is why the bone crest preservation technique arises after extraction. In this paper we intend to analyze whether bone crest preservation presents benefits based on the best available scientific evidence. It is concluded that the available scientific evidence shows that the technique presents favorable clinical results, however, most of the articles analyzed indicate the need to carry out additional studies in the future, with a larger and longer sample size in the study. time, to reach more conclusive results.
