Abstract

Una correcta toma de impresión sobre implantes es de vital importancia para conseguir un buen ajuste pasivo que evite complicaciones biomecánicas. En los últimos años, han ido surgiendo nuevas técnicas que nos permiten cambiar los procedimientos en la toma de impresiones pero, para ello, debemos revisar la literatura publicada hasta la fecha y verificar si existen diferencias significativas en la precisión de las impresiones tomadas digitalmente frente a las impresiones tomadas de manera convencional. En esta revisión, tras revisar dicha literatura, se llegó a la conclusión de que las impresiones digitales parecen ser un procedimiento preciso como alternativa a las impresiones convencionales. Además, el tiempo de ajuste de la prótesis y el tiempo total necesario para su fabricación también parece disminuir con la corriente digital, algo que también mejora la percepción y comodidad tanto de los pacientes como del profesional. Podrían surgir importantes ventajas para reducir los costos de producción, mejorar la eficiencia del tiempo y satisfacer las percepciones de los pacientes en un concepto de tratamiento modernizado. Sin embargo, a la luz de los resultados, se necesitan más estudios clínicos antes de que se pueda hacer la recomendación para el uso rutinario de escaneos digitales para todas las rehabilitaciones de implantes de desdentados parciales y totales.

Correct impression-taking on implants is of vital importance to achieve a good passive fit that avoids biomechanical complications. In recent years, new techniques have emerged that allow us to change impression-taking procedures, but to do so, we must review the literature published to date and verify whether there are significant differences in the accuracy of digitally taken impressions compared to conventionally taken impressions. In this review, after reviewing this literature, we concluded that digital impressions appear to be an accurate procedure as an alternative to conventional impressions. In addition, the fitting time of the prosthesis and the total time required for its fabrication also seems to decrease with the digital flow, which also improves the perception and comfort of both the patients and the professional. Significant advantages could arise in reducing production costs, improving time efficiency and satisfying patient perceptions in a modernised treatment concept. However, in light of the results, further clinical studies are needed before a recommendation can be made for the routine use of digital scans for all partial and total edentulous implant rehabilitations.
