Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing the procedures necessary to calculate efficiency through the study of DMUs, or Decision Marking Units. To carry out a practical and effective demonstration, the eight largest companies in the water sector worldwide have been selected. These companies will be exhaustively analyzed to extract their most relevant and significant data. The aim of this comparison is to identify which of these companies are more efficient for society. In an initial phase, general comparative criteria will be used to provide an initial assessment of each company's efficiency. These criteria will include factors such as operational costs, supply capacity, water quality, and the environmental impact of operations. Then, EMS software will be used to perform a more detailed and specific analysis. This software will allow for the calculation of each company's efficiency value in different scenarios, providing a series of scores that are highly useful for decision-making. The scores obtained will help determine which companies are best positioned to face future challenges and which could benefit from improvements in their processes. Finally, the results of this analysis will be used to make recommendations on best practices in the water sector. These recommendations will be aimed at improving the efficiency and sustainability of water supply and purification operations, thus contributing to better service to society and a reduced environmental footprint.
