Estudio de microplásticos en contenido estomacal de la especie pelágica Scomber colias en el Golfo de Cádiz

Abstract

La contaminación por microplásticos ha recibido mucha atención durante los últimos años debido a su impacto en el medio ambiente y en los organismos (incluyendo a los humanos). Los microplásticos son ingeridos con facilidad por organismos marinos debido a su pequeño tamaño (<5 mm) y pueden ser bioacumulados en la cadena trófica. Este es el primer estudio que analiza la cantidad de microplásticos ingeridos en la caballa (Scomber colias) en el Golfo de Cádiz. De los 58 estómagos analizados, el 93% contenía microplásticos con una media de 5,9 microplásticos/individuo. De los 747 microplásticos analizados, el 91,83% eran fibras y el 8,17% fragmentos, siendo los colores más frecuentes el negro (34%) y el azul (27%).
