Covid-19 y la digitalización: una perspectiva interseccional

Abstract

Objectives: This work intends to evaluate current impacts of the digital transformation and the global COVID-19 pandemic from an intersectional point of view. Existing research gaps and “blind spots” concerning the realities of marginalized and vulnerable communities are aimed to be revealed to create awareness amongst academics and Human resource professionals. Method: The methodological framework of this investigation consists of a systematic literature review of current publications that are contextualized following a meta-analysis approach. The research was carried out in 3 languages and identified 69 sources that meet the inclusion criteria. An in-depth analysis of the literature revealed pertinent concepts that are being discussed in this paper. Conclusion: The literature indicates that scientific investigations have often failed to collect comprehensive data about social implications of digitalization and Covid-19 from an intersectional perspective. Although, many studies include binary gender differentiation in their work, important parameters like sexual identity, ethnicity and social class are mostly disregarded. The consequences however appear to be dramatic for the already disadvantaged people. Discrimination, Violence and health problems are challenging significantly people that are not privileged and contribute to increase social and economic gaps in society. It is recommended to consider intersectional theory in future investigations to provide a comprehensive and more accurate understanding of social sciences.
