Abstract

This study examines the hypersexualization of female characters in video games through the analysis of various iconic characters from the 80s to the present day. Additionally, a detailed analysis of the character of Lara Croft is conducted, evaluating her transformation and whether she has moved away from hypersexualization. Furthermore, three examples of non-sexualized female characters are described and analyzed, highlighting their representation as non-stereotypical models. These examples serve to demonstrate the importance of diversity and inclusion in the portrayal of female characters in video games. The ultimate goal is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the hypersexualization of female characters in video games, its evolution, and its impact on consumer perception, as well as to emphasize the importance of non-stereotypical representation in the gaming industry.
