Abstract

Jerez de la Frontera se postula como candidata a ser nominada Capital Europea de la Cultura en 2031, una designación anual por la que también compiten Granada, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria y Cáceres ese mismo año. La riqueza patrimonial, cultural y artística tan considerable que posee Jerez contrasta con la desatención y el descuido que sufren muchas de sus infraestructuras culturales, barrios y conjuntos arquitectónicos. Esta dualidad de la ciudad se presta a ser reflejada a través de un trabajo audiovisual de tipo corto documental en el que, a través de entrevistas a diversas voces expertas e implicadas ilustradas con imágenes recursivas de la ciudad, se realice un diagnóstico del panorama cultural como síntoma de una profunda crisis social y económica que impide que la ciudad desarrolle plenamente su potencial. Con una de las tasas de paro más elevadas de España y el tercer ayuntamiento más endeudado del país, la ciudad precisa de un impulso institucional tanto externo como interno que puede pasar por la apuesta por las industrias culturales. Alcance o no este reconocimiento, en el arduo camino se puede trabajar en un proyecto de ciudad que, siendo consciente de la dificultad de alcanzar una transformación significativa, se traduzca en un esfuerzo comprometido por salir del círculo vicioso en el que la ciudad lleva sumida desde hace años.
