Abstract

Introduction: The interdental papilla, as its name suggests, is the part of the free gingiva that occupies the space between two adjacent teeth. This pink, pyramidal shape and firm consistency represents a great challenge for dentistry, since its loss is a major concern for patients and dentists. In this sense, and due to the difficulty of its recovery, the search for effective treatments has become a challenge for all those who seek to improve aesthetics. Aim: The present study evaluates the efficacy and effectiveness of two of the treatments proposed for papillary regeneration: the connective tissue graft and hyaluronic acid. It also establishes a comparison between the two in order to help the professional in choosing the most optimal treatment for the patient. Material and method: Thanks to the PubMed database, a total of 18 articles were found. These served as a source for the realization of this work. Results: Both treatments show satisfactory results. However, the results of the connective tissue graft, and although with greater stability over time, are subject to the technique and experience of the professional, so they are not predictable. On the contrary, the predictability of hyaluronic acid has been demonstrated, although not its effectiveness over time. Conclusion: New clinical studies are required to increase scientific evidence and determine the ideal path towards recovery of the interdental papilla
