Abstract

OBJETIVOS. Identificar que procedimientos dentales causan bacteriemia, conocer las actualizaciones en pautas de profilaxis frente a endocarditis bacteriana determinando su eficacia y analizar el grado de conocimiento de estudiantes o profesionales de la salud en dicho ámbito. MATERIAL Y MÉTODO. Se completó una revisión bibliográfica utilizando las bases de datos Google Scholar y PubMed, mediante la búsqueda de artículos basándonos en aquellos que tuvieran texto completo y cuyo idioma fuera inglés o español. RESULTADOS Y CONCLUSIONES. Se recomienda profilaxis antibiótica en pacientes de alto riesgo y en determinados procedimientos, mientras que se analizará cada caso en pacientes de riesgo moderado, identificamos la guía de la Sociedad Europea de Cardiología y como la más adecuada para establecer la pauta profiláctica y se recomienda mejorar el grado de conocimiento de los odontólogos sobre la endocarditis bacteriana.

OBJECTIVES. Identify which dental procedures cause bacteraemia, to learn about updates in EB prophylaxis guidelines by determining their efficacy and to analyse the degree of knowledge of students or health professionals in this field. MATERIAL AND METHOD. A literature review was completed using Google Scholar and PubMed databases, searching for articles based on those with full text in English or Spanish. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS. Antibiotic prophylaxis is recommended in high-risk patients and in certain procedures, while each case will be analysed in patients at moderate risk, the most appropriate guide to establish the prophylactic guideline is that of the European Society of Cardiology and it is recommended to improve the degree of knowledge of dentists in the field of Bacterial Endocarditis.
