This work studies the dynamic of mutualistic ecosystems via Lotka-Volterra model. After exploring the existence and uniqueness of positive solutions, several properties of globally stable equilibrium are shown using the Linear Complementarity Theory. In addition, the structural stability of real ecological networks is analyzed in a set of simulations. The evidence arisen from these experiments suggests that cooperation plays a fundamental role in the coexistence of species in large ecosystems. Finally, a new Lotka-Volterra model that includes the indirect interactions between species is proposed, and it is compared with the traditional Lotka-Volterra model.
