Introduction: In recent years, dental implant placement surgery has become one of the most widely used procedures to solve partial or total edentulousness in all types of patients within the dental office. Moreover, the number of patients taking the New Oral Anticoagulants increases everyday. This paper aims to review the current literature about the mentioned medication and surgical procedure. Material and methods: Searches were performed in well-known databases (Pubmed, Scopus, Google Scholar…), from which the final information was obtained from 21 papers. Conclusions: Most studies conclude that it is not necessary to modify anticoagulant therapy, since the bleeding that occurs is manegeable and controllable with local hemostatic measures. However, a consensus has not been reached regarding the guidelines to follow for this procedure, so future studies will be necessary.
