Variables asociadas a las necesidades psicosociales de personas con enfermedad mental grave usuarias de servicios comunitarios y de sus cuidadores familiares

Abstract

Objetivos: Evaluar las necesidades de personas con enfermedad mental grave que viven en la comunidad así como las necesidades de sus cuidadores familiares, e identificar las variables asociadas con las necesidades. Método: Se evaluó a dos muestras de pares relacionados: personas con enfermedad mental (N=95) y sus cuidadores familiares (N=53). Resultados: Las necesidades más frecuentes de las personas con enfermedad mental correspondían a las áreas de sintomatología, información, actividades diarias y compañía; el número de necesidades se asociaba con la edad, actividad profesional, nivel educativo, no vivir con la familia, proceder de recursos residenciales, funcionamiento global, discapacidad y salud. Las necesidades más frecuentes entre los cuidadores eran el apoyo individualizado, ayudas económicas, asociaciones de familiares y servicios de respiro; el número de necesidades se asociaba con su estilo de afrontamiento y su participación en recursos de apoyo, así como con las necesidades y discapacidad de la persona con enfermedad mental. Conclusiones: Las personas con enfermedad mental y sus cuidadores familiares presentan necesidades diversas, a pesar del apoyo proporcionado por las redes formales e informales
