Se analizan los desplazamientos semánticos que ha experimentado el adverbio πολλάκις que es etimológicamente un cuantificador, funciona como adverbio de frecuencia y adquiere significados de modalidad en determinados contextos. Se discuten y proponen algunas hipótesis para explicar el desplazamiento en el marco de una teoría general de los adverbios, la cuantificación y la gramaticalización.
The author analyses some semantic shifts observed in the adverb πολλάκις. From an etymological point of view, the adverb is a quantifier, but works as a frequency adverb and develops, in specific contexts, modality meanings. Some hypothesis about the shift are proposed and discussed within a methodological approach based in a general theory about adverbs, quantifiers and grammaticalizations.
