La piratería Japonesa del siglo XV

Abstract

This dissertation’s main goal is to delve into how Japanese piracy was runduring the 16th century in an investigation that throws light clearly and practically on the subject matter. This is both in relation to their neighboring countries (mainly China and Korea) in the Greater China Sea region, and on a domestic level inside Japan proper, in the Seto Inland Sea region. Among piracy’s distinct aspects, it is an objective to define the historical figure of the wakou, in direct opposition to the kaizoku, both of which are translated as “pirate” but refer to not only different tipes of naval practices but also lifestyles.
