Abstract

Los nuevos procesos de construcción acuden a materiales antes insólitos, por lo que no es infrecuente que la arquitectura textil, lejos de limitarse a cubrir anejos, pabellones o pérgolas, se instale en el núcleo de la creación edilicia. Por otro lado, es frecuente en el diseño urbano problematizar la distinción entre interior y exterior o entre privado y público, como atestiguan recientes reflexiones sobre el disfrute público de las plazas interiores en rascacielos neoyorquinos, o, en sentido opuesto, denuncias reiteradas de la ocupación de aceras para usos comerciales privativos. La voluntad de convertir los exteriores en espacios tan ricamente equipados, tan defendidos de las inclemencias, tan blindados, termina desvelándose como una operación que simplemente coloniza la calle con anejos construidos (naves, carpas, pérgolas) que roban espacio a la esfera pública para incorporarlo a un uso privativo. Es decir, la actividad comercial va fagocitando acera; los edificios se expanden hacia la calle con el pretexto de equiparse; el tráfico peatonal se ve cohibido; y el tejido urbano se ve alterado por diversas protuberancias, celdas y excrecencias implantadas sin deliberación ciudadana.
