Abstract

The aim of this project is to introduce and study high entropy alloys (HEAs). Since they are characterized by a random disposition of its constituents, HEAs have been compared throughout this research with intermetallic chains, which show same stoichiometry as high entropy alloys, yet their atoms are periodically disposed. We remark that a monodimensional study of these solids has been carried out due to some computational difficulties were found in the process. In this regard, the first chapter describes the thermodinamical properties of HEAs and discusses its stability. The second chapter provides us with the essential tools in order to develop a proper simulation of the difraction pattern of a high entropy alloy. These patterns are analized, characterized, as well as discussed in the third chapter. Finally, main conclusions of this study approach can be found in the last chapter

El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar y estudiar las aleaciones de alta entropía (HEAs). Dado que ´estas destacan por el orden aleatorio en que se disponen sus componentes, a lo largo del texto se han comparado con compuestos de estequiometría idéntica en fase intermetálica, esto es, con una ordenación periódica. Cabe destacar que se ha optado por un estudio monodimensional de las mismas a causa de las dificultades computacionales encontradas. En este sentido, el primer capítulo expone las propiedades termodinámicas básicas que caracterizan a estos materiales y discute su estabilidad. El segundo capítulo presenta las herramientas necesarias para construir un programa que simule el patrón de difracción de las HEAs, el cual será analizado, caracterizado y discutido en el capítulo tercero. Las conclusiones principales de este estudio pueden encontrarse en el ´ultimo capítulo.
