Abstract

Nowadays the main objective of the construction is to carry out interventions with the minimum energetic waste possible both in the execution and in the life of the building, reducing the environmental impact as much as possible thus the making of sustainable and efficient constructions are promoted progressively. The building envelope through active elements, and with the continuous advance of new technologies, increasingly performs more functions to fight and stop external climatic agents or interact with the environment since is one of the parts that interferes, to a greater extend, in the energy waste of the building. The active or dynamic building envelopes with environmental controlare those who contains moving elements that helps to improve the building interior comfort. This moving capacity is given by specific systems constituting a new classification which the different mechanisms of each active envelope can be observed. The above-mentioned leads to the detailed study of seven study cases whence the active envelope of each one will be profoundly analyzed specifying their location, main characteristics, and employed systems. Following this analysis, a comparison is made where three different systems are applied in the same building with a specific climate, in order to be able to observe the effect that each one causes under equal conditions.
