Biomateriales en cirugía apical

Abstract

Introduction Apical surgery is a surgical procedure which purpose is to keep the teeth after persistent apical infections, avoiding extraction. A component of the success of this surgery is the filling of root-end after resection of the root apex. Method The scientific material was obtained from the PubMed, MEDLINE and Scopus databases, offered by the web portal of the Library of Health Centers of the University of Seville. Articles published from 2010 to November 2020 were located. Fourteen articles were analyzed. Conclusion MTA has been the most used biomaterial in retrograde filling in recent years. However, this trend is changing and calcium silicate-based biomaterials, such as Biodentine, are increasing their use because of its simple handing and short setting time.
