Abstract

The discovery of included or impacted teeth is quite common in young patients who come to a query in order to submit an orthodontic treatment. The maxillary canines included are the second in frequency of appearance, after the third molars. In many cases, this alteration of the eruption goes unnoticed, as is found by chance during the study before orthodontics. From this precise moment, the planning of a multidisciplinary treatment begins to correct the position of that piece in the arch, with the correct aesthetic and functional results. To perform this correction, two main techniques are usually used, combining orthodontics and surgery, the open and the closed technique. Both provide satisfactory results in terms of correcting the position, although showing certain differences in the aspects studied after finishing the treatment
