The term included canine refers to a common phenomenon in regular dental practice that can be assessed in different ways and have a wide variety of treatments. However, early diagnosis and detection of this phenomenon is essential to avoid the complications it can cause, such as root resorption of neighbouring teeth. In this work the aim is to review the literature published to date to accredit and evaluate the degree of resorption that exists between upper canine impaction and root resorption, to know the prevalence, location and manifestations that derive from its inclusion. It is concluded that at present the factors responsible for root resorption of the incisors associated with the inclusion of the canine are not completely known. There is a greater frequency of reabsorption in the lateral incisor than in the central incisor, being prevalent in the female sex. In addition, mesiodistal displacement and vertical placement of the canines in the middle third of the root of the adjacent incisors is strongly associated with root resorption.
