Abstract

In this project it has been developed a model of an electrohydrodynamic pump of a typical size of 0.2mm in which the magnitudes of the fluid are function of the temperature and the dielectric force is considered. The software selected in order to compute the simulations has been COMSOL Multiphysics, in which we have studied the evolution of different physical magnitudes such as the velocity field, temperature field, or charge concentration with the electric field, as well as other global magnitudes, for instance the maximum velocity or the heat transfer. It has been demonstrated that the dependence of the fluid’s magnitudes with the temperature do not interfere with the performance of the pump in the current configuration. Finally, it is shown how the heat transfer is increased by a factor of 10 owing to the application of the electric field, in the range of values considered.
