Los determinantes del ciberactivismo

Abstract

El objetivo de este estudio es examinar si existen o no determinados factores que determinen la participación política online. De este modo, se pretende observar si el ciberactivismo se encuentra o no protagonizado por los mismos sectores sociales que dominan la participación política en el mundo offline, lo que reproduciría así las relaciones de poder existentes en el mundo digital. Con esta finalidad se utiliza el método cuantitativo, siendo la fuente de los datos las encuestas del Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas (CIS). Se aplica como principal técnica de investigación la regresión logística. De esta manera, se podrá comprobar si existen determinados condicionantes que influyan en la probabilidad de usar las nuevas tecnologías para participar políticamente. Se identifican para ello cuatro grupos de factores: características socioeconómicas, actitudes políticas, participación política offline y habilidades digitales. Los resultados corroboran que existen determinados factores que condicionan el ciberactivismo. Así, la tenencia de determinadas características sociales, actitudes políticas y habilidades digitales, así como la implicación en formas de participación política offline o tradicionales favorece la participación política online. Estos hallazgos implicarían que el mundo digital parece configurarse como una caja de resonancia de las relaciones de poder existentes previamente en la realidad offline. De esta manera, serían los grupos sociales que tradicionalmente se han implicado en política en mayor medida los que coparían las acciones de ciberactivismo.
