Retinopatía diabética en la Farmacia Comunitaria

Abstract

En el presente Trabajo Fin de Grado se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica de los aspectos más importantes de la Diabetes Mellitus, una enfermedad con una prevalencia cada vez mayor que puede dar lugar a diversas complicaciones. De todas ellas se ha seleccionado la Retinopatía Diabética para profundizar en este trabajo. La Retinopatía Diabética (RD) consiste en una afectación de los vasos de la retina, pudiendo desembocar en pérdida de visión de forma irreversible. Por ello la importancia de mantener un buen control diabético y realizar un diagnóstico precoz para evitar su avance. Los principales problemas de esta complicación son la ausencia de síntomas en las primeras fases y la existencia de enfermos con DMII que desconocen que la padecen, con el consiguiente control inadecuado de la enfermedad. Para evitar que aparezcan las situaciones descritas en líneas anteriores, se ha propuesto realizar un screening mediante el desarrollo de unas campañas de diagnóstico precoz y seguimiento de RD en la Farmacia Comunitaria, dado que estos establecimientos son el primer nivel de entrada de los pacientes al sistema sanitario y gozan de una gran accesibilidad. Para terminar, debido a la actual situación generada por la COVID-19, se han tenido que analizar todos los aspectos de los programas que deben ser sometidos a modificaciones, con el único objetivo de preservar la salud tanto del paciente como del equipo de personal de la Farmacia Comunitaria. Es imprescindible que la población se preocupe por cumplir las medidas de seguridad que recomiendan las autoridades sanitarias para poder acabar con el virus.
