Okul öncesi hikâye ve masal kitaplarında toplumsal cinsiyet rolleri

Abstract

The aim in this study is to introduce an explanation for the question “how are gender roles conveyed by the means of linguistic and non-linguistic indicators in preschool story and fable books?” The study was conducted through the qualitative research methods. 50 preschool story and fable books selected with scale sampling method were assessed according to the categories formed in the light of information derived from the literature and the analysis forms were created. Then, these forms were filled by examining the books. This research was carried out in two stages. The gathered data was analyzed with descriptive and content analysis methods in the first stage. In the second stage, each book was interpreted in consideration of the categories. In consequence of the assessments, it was identified that although gender roles are still present traditionally in the examined books, these roles are reflected partially with an egalitarian manner purified from traditional approach and stereotyped judgments.
