Abstract

One of the features of the concept of the culture defined differently by various philosophers, researchers and antropologists is regarded as the exchange of knowledge accumulation and behavioral patterns from one generation to the other. The concept of enculturation which is a tributary of the concept of the culture consists of educating the individual according to the norms of the society without being restricted to time limitations. The television which is an effective means visually and audibly is regarded as an effective means in the transfer of the already existing value evaluations as well as being influental in social changes. Therefore, it can be said that television is of vital importance in enculturation.

Farklı düşünürler, araştırmacılar, antropologlar tarafından, çeşitli şekillerde tanımlanan kültür kavramının özelliklerinden biri, kuşaklar arasında aktarılan bilgi birikimi ve bütünleşmiş davranış örüntüleri olarak görülmesidir. Kültür kavramının bir uzantısı olan kültürleme kavramı, zaman kavramı sınırlı olmaksızın, bireyin topluma uyumu amacıyla eğitilmesidir. Görsel ve işitsel olarak etkili bir kitle iletişim aracı olan televizyon, toplumsal değişimler üzerinde etkili olmasının yanında, varolan değer yargılarının aktarımında etkili bir araç olarak görülmektedir. Bu nedenle, televizyonun, kültürleme olgusunda önemli bir yere sahip olduğu söylenebilir.
