The aim of this work, which was introduced to a Byzantine church in the Çeltikdere village of Bolu Province of Seben District of Bolu and which was dated to the Middle Byzantine Period, is to address the dating problems of the Çeltikdere Byzantine Church and to document its planarchitectural features. The name in the Byzantine period, the date of construction, the building which is unknown of the builder is ruined nowadays. Although many studies have been done on this church, neither consistent information about the history of the church nor the architectural-plan features has been revealed. As a result of the researches carried out in the Prime Ministry Ottoman and Republic archives, no records were found about the history of the church. Built a wooden mosque on the top floor at an unknown date, the church was used as a mosque until 1952. From some historical events that took place in the region and its surroundings, it is estimated that the Çeltikdere Byzantine Church was built sometime between the end of the 10th century and the middle of the 11th century due to its plan and architectural features. It is understood that in accordance with the information included in the publications of previous years about the building and the measurements taken were constructed in the plan of the cross in squared scheme, which struck the Middle Byzantine Period religious architecture. The quality of the stonemasonry of the building is also remarkable. Carried out a detailed literature search and land survey by taking measurements of the church, plans have been drawn and restitution studies have been done and documented by photographing and they have been evaluated by comparing them with the churches with similar plan and architectural features built on the Byzantine borders, especially in Anatolia.

Bolu İli Seben İlçesi Çeltikdere Köyü'nde bulunan ve Orta Bizans Dönemi'ne tarihlendirilen bir Bizans kilisesinin tanıtıldığı bu çalışmanın amacı Çeltikdere Bizans Kilisesi'nin tarihlendirme sorunlarına değinmek ve plan-mimari özelliklerini belgelemektir. Bizans dönemindeki adı, inşa tarihi, yaptıranı bilinmeyen yapı günümüzde harap vaziyettedir. Bu kilise hakkında birçok çalışma yapılmasına karşın ne tarihçesi hakkında ne de mimari-plan özellikleri hakkında tutarlı bilgiler ortaya koyulmamıştır. Başbakanlık Osmanlı ve Cumhuriyet arşivlerinde yapılan araştırmalar sonucunda da kilise tarihi hakkında herhangi bir kayda rastlanmamıştır. Bilinmeyen bir tarihte üst katına ahşap bir cami inşa edilen kilise, 1952 yılına kadar cami olarak kullanılmıştır. Bulunduğu bölge ve çevresinde meydana gelen birtakım tarihi olaylardan, plan ve mimari özelliklerinden dolayı Çeltikdere Bizans Kilisesi'nin 10. yüzyıl sonu ile 11. yüzyıl ortaları arasındaki bir tarihte inşa edildiği tahmin edilmektedir. Hakkında yapılan daha önceki yıllara ait yayınlarda yer alan bilgiler ve alınan ölçüler doğrultusunda yapının Orta Bizans Dönemi dini mimarisine damgasını vuran kapalı Yunan haçı plan şemasında inşa edildiği anlaşılmaktadır. Yapının duvar işçiliğindeki kalite de dikkate değerdir. Detaylı bir literatür taraması ve arazi çalışması yapılan kilisenin ölçüleri alınarak planları çizilmiş, restitüsyon çalışması yapılmış, fotoğrafları çekilerek belgelenmiş ve Bizans sınırlarında, özellikle de Anadolu'da inşa edilen benzer plan ve mimari özelliklere sahip kiliselerle karşılaştırılarak değerlendirilmiştir.
