On February 17, 2023, the regulations contained in the Digital Services Act (which went into effect on November 16, 2022) become applicable. While the new regulatory framework is in line with the E-commerce Directive, it also includes important innovations. Digital service providers are subject to a number of obligations that diverge due to the nature of the services provided and the size of the providers. The contributions that follow are intended to offer an in-depth look at some of the main legal issues of interest posed by the new provisions. This brief introduction will, therefore, be followed by three fo-cuses: by Giusella Finocchiaro, on the liability of platforms, by Erik Longo on freedom of information, and by Gianluca Sgueo on the new governance of the DSA.
