Storia del vegetarianismo nell'antichità - 5

Abstract

This article deals with the vegetarianism of Pythagoras, in particular with regard to its function of ensuring physical and mental health. Pythagoras in fact attributed an important role to foods and drinks in maintaining body balance. At the same time, a sober diet was considered important by him in terms of temperance. Finally, the author examines the ancient testimonies concerning the introduction by Pythagoras of the meatbased diet for athletes.
