Studenti ipovedenti e mappe concettuali: come migliorarne l’accessibilità per migliorare l’apprendimento e l’inclusione

Abstract

Il presente articolo nasce con l’obiettivo di analizzare l’accessibilità delle mappe concettuali in ambito didattico da parte degli studenti ipovedenti. Le mappe concettuali rappresentano un valido supporto allo studio poiché aiutano a focalizzare i contenuti, a sintetizzare ciò che è stato imparato e stimolano l’apprendimento metacognitivo. Per gli studenti ipovedenti però può essere faticoso utilizzare questi strumenti sia a causa delle difficoltà che essi incontrano nella lettura, sia a causa della struttura reticolare tipica delle mappe. Data la loro importanza per l’apprendimento, sono state analizzate le principali criticità derivanti dalla loro fruizione, individuando soluzioni utili sia agli studenti ipovedenti per ottimizzarne l’esplorazione, sia agli insegnanti per migliorare l’accessibilità dei contenuti didattici.

The main objective of this research is to improve the use of concept maps in teaching for students with low vision. Concept maps are important in the learning process because they help students to focus on content and synthesise concepts, and they support metacognitive learning. However, using these tools can be difficult for students with low vision: the maps are difficult to read and they have a reticular structure. Given the importance of these learning tools, this paper aims to identify the problems that students with low vision find in their use, in order to find solutions to improve their exploration. This paper may also be useful for teachers, with the objective of ensuring the accessibility of educational content.
