Abstract

I DCA sono principalmente rappresentati dalla AN e dalla BN. Tuttavia esiste un nuovo corteo di sindromi parziali, solo in parte assimilabili adAN e BN, che vengono definite come DCA-NAS. Fra queste fa spicco il disturbo da alimentazione incontrollata o BED. I DCA sono condizioni psicopatologiche, caratterizzate soprattutto da un deficit di autostima, a sua volta condizionata da messaggi che giungono dal mondo esterno. L’AN è caratterizzata soprattutto da uno stato di magrezza estrema (BMI < 17,5) e dalla grande paura d’ingrassare, nonostante il sottopeso. Poiché colpisce essenzialmente il sesso femminile vi è amenorrea che deve durare da più di tre mesi. Nella BN l’abbuffata rappresenta l’elemento specifico associato a condotte compensatorie (vomito autoindotto, abuso di lassativi, diuretici, esercizio fisico strenuo per controllare il peso). Entrambe, specie quando instaurate da tempo, generano una serie di complicanze mediche correlate principalmente a deficit nutrizionali (macro- e micronutrienti), soprattutto nella AN. Alterazioni a carico di tutto il tratto digestivo compaiono prevalentemente nella BN, in relazione sia alle abbuffate che alle condotte compensatorie.
