Abstract—The best-effort delivery behavior is nowadays the only transmission policy in Internet. Some authors have pro- posed solutions based on packet replication on different paths to reduce drop probability. This solution partially solves the prob- lem and assures requirements of soft Quality of Service (QoS). This paper shows measurements of a redundant transmission ob- tained by a gateway built for this purpose. The gateway performs a redundant transmission over Internet using the source-routing option of the protocol; for this reason, the communication system is called Redundant Source-Routing (RSR). The performance of such system, in terms of packet drop probability and delivery time, shows interesting results. RSR is particularly suited for low-intensity traffic (eg: signaling traffic), to avoid congestion due to bandwidth consumption.
