Il saggio mette in luce come il modello idealtipico delle professioni, costruito sul sapere tecnico specializzato e sulla neutralità affettiva, non sia neutro ma storicamente maschile. Nelle professioni del sociale (servizi sociali, infermieristici, ecc.)l'approccio relazionale ed olistico delle donne raggiunge spesso risultati migliori per la soluzione dei problemi delle persone.
