Abstract

Il volume esamina le prefazioni di opere tecnico-scientifiche antiche negli ambiti di agricoltura e caccia (il Cynegeticon liber di Grattio, l'Opus agriculturae e il De insitione di Palladio, i Rerum rusticarum libri di Varrone, i Rei rusticae libri di Columella, i Cynegetica di Nemesiano), architettonica (Vitruvio e il De aquae ductu di Frontino), aritmetica e gromatica (Boezio, i gromatici), astronomia e astrologia (Manilio, Firmico Materno, Igino, Germanico, Rufio Festo Avieno), geografia, geometria, itineraria e soprattutto medicina (Sereno Sammonico, Cassio Felice, Celso etc.).
