Poesia, mito e história no modernismo brasileiro

Abstract

In questo libro si focalizza una caratteristica tendenza della letteratura brasiliana, quella di rivedere la storia, di ritornare al passato per riscoprire e ricostituire la memoria perduta delle proprie radici. Tale processo è stato avviato, anche se in modo ancora titubante, dai romantici, ma ha trovato compiutezza e maturità nei primi decenni di ventesimo secolo grazie allo sforzo degli intellettuali e scrittori modernisti di calarsi a fondo nella propria realtà. Si prende in considerazione quindi il lungo percorso fatto dagli scrittori brasiliani nel tentativo di definire un’identità nazionale che parte dal Romanticismo ma che ha il suo fulcro nel Modernismo. L’analisi si concentra su tre scrittori, Oswald de Andrade, Cassiano Ricardo e Raul Bopp, autori rispettivamente delle opere poetiche Pau-brasil (1925), Martin Cererê (1928) e Cobra Norato (1930), tre libri che ripropongo una rivisitazione e una ricostruzione mitica (in Cassiano Ricardo e Raul Bopp) e storica (in Oswald de Andrade) del Brasile con l’intento di valorizzare gli elementi dell’identità nazionale e, soprattutto, di recuperare le dimensioni perdute, rimosse o emarginate del proprio passato.
