The motility, viability and acrosome integrity of spermatozoa from ten boars frozen with programmable freezing machine in straws, with two different freezing methods (CIAP and IMV), were assessed before and after thawing. Motility was subjectively estimated, viability and acrosome integrity were assessed in eosin-nigrosin stained smears. After thawing, motility resulted higher (P<0.05) in CIAP processed samples compared to IMV (31.4+14.4 vs 24.7+12.9). Whereas, viability was better preserved by IMV protocol (37.9+11.2 vs 48.2+9.7%). Field trials are necessary for discriminating the two methods on the fertilizing capacity.
