The thesis presents a study on the localization of acoustic sources in space with the use of microphone arrays. The first part focused on the state of the art of localization, describing the problem, the techniques to estimate the source position and the signal processing methods. The second part covered the scientific contribution of this thesis introducing two new methods for the multi-source localization in far-field environment and for the pseudo-periodic sound localization in near-field environment
