Abstract

Il patrimonio archeologico del territorio comunale di Capoterra allo stato attuale delle ricerche è costituito da oltre 40 siti archeologici, ubicati sia nell’area pianeggiante che in quelle collinare e montuosa, con una distribuzione non uniforme in relazione ai diversi periodi preistorici e storici (fig. 1) . La forte antropizzazione e il degrado dovuto all’azione degli scavatori clandestini, hanno fortemente trasformato il quadro originario della frequentazione umana nei secoli, attualmente ancora non completo, in assenza di un programma di ricognizioni sistematiche. Il presente studio si inquadra nell’ambito di una più ampia indagine, portata avanti dalla scrivente a partire dagli anni ’90 e tuttora in corso, sul popolamento e la frequentazione antropica in età preistorica nelle zone del Caputerra, del Sulcis e del basso Campidano. Lo studio territoriale del patrimonio archeologico dell’area esaminata ha evidenziato il complesso quadro delle dinamiche di popolamento, frequentazione e sfruttamento del territorio, strettamente legato ai caratteri ambientali. Questi ultimi hanno fortemente influenzato i processi storici ad esso legati, offrendo un habitat ricco di risorse e inserito in un importante incrocio delle principali vie di comunicazione tra le diverse regioni della Sardegna meridionale.
