Abstract

Martina Tranca (M.F.) donkeys is a breed that, like other donkey breeds, is considered under threat of extinction. This research has been therefore designed to better understand the estrous cycle of M.F. donkey in order to be able to apply biotechnologies for the safeguard of this endangered species. The mean length of estous cycle was 23,77±0,62 days (6,51±0,68 days estrus phase, 16,77±0,62 days diestrus phase. The mean diameter of the dominant follicles observed in the first day of estrus was 29,1±0,04 mm reechoing 43,7±0,13 mm fewwhour before the ovulation.

La razza asinina di Martina Franca è considerata a rischio d'estinzione. Il presente lavoro ha lo scopo di studiarne il ciclo e strale e la dinamica follicolare al fine dell'applicazione delle biotecnologie riproduttive volte alla tutela della razza. La lunghezza del ciclo e strale è stata di 23,23±0,68 gg. (6,51±0,68 fase estrale, 16,77±0,62 gg fase diestrale). Il diametro del follicolo dominante nel primo giorno del calore è stato di 29,1±0,04 mm, di 43,7±0,13 mm al momento dell'ovulazione.
