Abstract

Il libro indaga una delle opere più significative dell’architetto Eduardo Souto de Moura: Casa a Moledo. È un viaggio nella storia, in relazione ai maestri diretti e indiretti, con l’obiettivo di fare emergere la poetica del progettista lusitano. Un filo conduttore attraversa la cultura portoghese degli ultimi decenni: da un lato, una visione realista della realtà, che risponde, attraverso l’architettura, alle esigenze sociali, collettive ed economiche; dall’altro, la volontà di offrire, mediante il progetto, una dimensione rivolta alla tradizione, secondo un costrutto inedito che opera per variazioni inaspettate. Per tali ragioni sono analizzati il pensiero e alcune opere di Fernando Távora, Álvaro Siza Vieira, Mies van der Rohe e Louis I. Kahn. Vengono indagate alcune opere degli anni Cinquanta e Sessanta, in Portogallo, di Fernando Távora e Álvaro Siza Vieira, che hanno orientato una nuova sensibilità ambientale e un rinnovato legame tra organismo architettonico e territorio. La Casa a Moledo viene interpretata in relazione ai temi della natura e dell’artificio, nell’idea di superamento di coppie dialettiche e oppositive, a favore di una visione che opera attraverso interazioni e integrazioni tra elementi ormai non più separabili.
