Abstract

The contribution highlights the potential of remote sensing in geographical analysis, based on the availability of up-to-date and detailed territorial information relating to aspects that traditional statistical databases do not adequately provide. In the context of the multiple territorial repercussions of natural disasters, the contribution proposes the use of satellite data for the analysis of some flooded municipalities in Emilia-Romagna, as case studies through which to assess the consequences of hydrogeological instability on the integrity of cultural heritage in the affected areas. From a methodological point of view, the cartographic processing was carried out using the NDWI multispectral index, derived from information from the Copernicus Programme.
