Neuroetica: una visita guidata

Abstract

Perciò, a dieci anni dalla sua nascita, nel momento in cui si viene chiamati a presentarne, anche schematicamente, i primi risultati, non si può fare a meno di denunciare preventivamente il pericolo che la neuroetica corre di sclerotizzarsi in una serie di variazioni su canovacci sempre uguali. Come in parte, del resto, sta già avvenendo: chiunque può appurare, tramite una veloceS&F_n. 5_2011 11 ricerca in biblioteca o in Internet, che la maggior parte degli studi su questi temi presentano, quasi fossero delle convenzioni stilistiche, alcuni passaggi sempre uguali, con il loro corredo standard di casi clinici ed esperimenti mentali. Non è questo il luogo per una riflessione foucaultiana sul perché nascano e si diffondano certi discorsi scientifici e filosofici piuttosto che altri, e quindi sulle relazioni di potere che a essi presiedono – anche se non potremo esimerci dal riproporre tale questione tra qualche pagina – però è evidente che la moltiplicazione anche ridondante di studi sull’etica delle neuroscienze è stata favorita dalla straordinaria quantità di investimenti che nel decennio precedente alla sua nascita sono stati utilizzati per l’acquisto, da parte di istituti pubblici e privati, di macchinari destinati all’elaborazione di immagini e dati provenienti dal sistema nervoso centrale.
