Abstract

Il saggio analizza la teoria dell'immaginazione come facoltà dell'anima "sensitiva" propria della psicologia filosofica classica. Esso individua una consapevolezza delle funzioni "vicarianti" dell'immagine rispetto al pensiero, confusa però con una condanna delle forme meno perfettamente concettuali di pensiero. Il saggio mostra infine come la filosofia contemporanea abbia superato tale condanna attraverso l'analisi della narratività e della metafora, di cui si riconosce oggi largamente la funzione essenziale per la costruzione della conoscenza
